Many XP users have problems with programs starting up at the boot. You install programs like Quicktime,Realplayer,Adobe reader and others. Then evey time you turn on your computer all of these programs want to start up and check for updates on the internet. Your memory gets overloaded and you can't even use your computer. There is a quick fix to this problem so relax.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Click on the start menu , when it opens click on the RUN option.
Step2
In thr Run box type in msconfig , Click run. Your startup window will appear, click on the services tab. Scroll down and uncheck any and all programs you do not want to automatically start without you choosing them. At the bottom is a box that when checked will not show XP programs . This should be checked to avoid unchecking any of those programs.
Step3
Next click on the startup tab , do the same thing . This is where most update checkers are located i.e. Qt scheduler is an automatic update checker for quicktime. Remember everything in this section is ON the entire time you use your computer and slows it down. msmsgs - messenger, You can start messenger anytime you need it , keeping it on automatic just uses memory and slows your internet. It is also a main entry for unwanted viruses and trojans. Be selective, only keep the programs you need booted for startup, i.e. antivirus software ,but uncheck its updater.
