How to Pray an Our Lady of Fatima Novena

During her appearance at Fatima the Virgin Mary predicted several events in Twentieth-century history. In 1917 the Virgin appeared six times to three peasant children in Fatima, Portugal. She told them that God was deeply displeased with the behavior of the human race and she told them that the faithful need to pray the Rosary frequently for the cause of world peace, that they should increase devotion to her Immaculate Heart and do acts of reparation for their sins and the sins of the world, that another world war would occur if the human race didn't reform itself, that the faithful should take communion on the first Saturday of every month and that the Pope needed to consecrate Russia to her Immaculate Heart. Two of the children died young but the survivor, Lucia, became a nun. In later life she wrote down three secret prophecies that she had been told by Mary. The church built on the site of the apparitions is a major pilgrimage destination. Say this prayer for nine consecutive days, nine Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays or every hour for nine hours:

Instructions

    • 1

      Most Holy Virgin,
who has deigned to come to Fatima
to reveal to the three little shepherds
the treasures of graces hidden in the recitation of the Rosary,
inspire our hearts with a sincere love of this devotion,
so that by meditating on the mysteries
of our redemption that are recalled in it,
      we may gather the fruits
and obtain the conversion of sinners,
      the conversion of Russia,
and this favor that I so earnestly seek....

(Mention the purpose of your prayer.)

...which I ask of you in this novena,
for the greater glory of God,
      for your own honor,
and for the good of all people
      Amen

      Our Father,
      who art in Heaven,
      hallowed by Thy name,
      Thy kingdom come,
      Thy will be done
on earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
      and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation
      but deliver us from evil
      Amen

      Hail Mary,
      Full of Grace,
      The Lord is with thee.
      Blessed art thou among women,
      and blessed is the fruit
      of thy womb, Jesus.
      Holy Mary,
      Mother of God,
      pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of death
      Amen

    • 5

      Glory be to the Father
      and to the Son
      and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning
is now, and ever shall be,
      world without end
      Amen
