Meet friends when your children can play.

Having a social life as a single mom does not necessarily mean dropping off the kids to hit the town. You can include your kids in some of you activities, making your social time do double duty. Social time as a single parent is critical to your mental health; you need social connections to keep abreast of school and local issues as well as fostering your own adult friendships.

Instructions

    • 1

Have coffee with a friend while the children go skating or play on an inside play structure.

    • 2

Invite friends to meet you at the park for a picnic. Sit and visit while the children climb the play structure.

    • 3

Schedule activities while the children are busy. For example, during a birthday party that your children attend, catch a movie with a friend or schedule a group pedicure.

    • 4

Swap babysitting with other single moms you know well and trust if you can't include your children in your activities.
