How to Prepare Potatoes in Cream Au Gratin

A potato dish of French origin.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 8 Yukon gold potatoes
  • 2 cups of Gruyère cheese
  • 2 cups of table cream
  • kosher salt
  • freshly-ground pepper
  • butter
  1. Step 1

    Grind the pepper, grate the cheese and slice the potatoes paper-thin.

  2. Step 2

    Boil the potatoes, then run them through a sieve.

  3. Step 3

    Smear butter around the inside of a baking pan, then carpet it with ½ of the potato slices.

  4. Step 4

    Cover the potatoes with 1 cup of the cheese and season with dashes of salt and pepper.

  5. Step 5

    Repeat the process with the rest of the potatoes, the cream and 1 cup of cheese.

  6. Step 6

    Simmer on the stove for 20 minutes, then broil in the oven for 5 minutes.
