Read on to find out how to get rid of groundhogs.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • shiny pinwheels
  • fencing
  • traps
  • dogs
  1. Step 1

Place pinwheels around your garden. Groundhogs are scared of movement and having a few pinwheels around is likely to scare them away.

  2. Step 2

Put up a fence around your garden. The downside is that groundhogs CAN climb over or under fences. However, many people have mentioned success with this method.

  3. Step 3

Set up traps. The most effective way to get rid of groundhogs is to set up traps and then remove them from your property.

Tips & Warnings
  • Many people say that owning a dog is a great way to discourage groundhogs. Dogs will chase the groundhogs away. Additionally, groundhogs can recognize the scent of dog urine and may not even try to set up home in your yard because of it.
  • Other pets and children can get stuck in the traps as well, so exercise extreme caution if you have either.
