From Quick Guide: Garden Furniture
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Plastic outdoor furniture
  • Plastic spray paint
  • Newspaper
  • Respirator
  1. Step 1

First, wear a respirator whenever you use spray paint, whether you're painting indoors or outdoors.

  2. Step 2

With spray paint designed specifically for plastic items, you don't have to prime or sand the plastic, just make sure it is clean and dry so the paint will bond to the plastic.

  3. Step 3

Spread out the newspapers on the floor of your garage, patio, or driveway.

  4. Step 4

Place the item to paint on the newspapers.

  5. Step 5

Begin to spray paint the piece. Make sure that you move the can evenly and slowly so that you get even coverage on the piece. Don't spray too fast or too heavily. The paint could drip or run.

  6. Step 6

Depending on the color of your plastic furniture and the color you choose, you may have to paint more than one coat to achieve the color you want. Be sure to allow your furniture to fully dry between coats.

  7. Step 7

Let your piece dry. It should only take 15 minutes or so for it to dry to the touch. Let it stand overnight before you move it for the best results.
