The first rule of thumb when choosing formal dress gloves is, the longer the sleeve, the shorter the glove. If you are wearing a sleeveless dress is is appropriate to wear an opera length glove, which generally are 22' to 23" in length from the tip of the middle finger to the bottom of the glove. Cap sleeve dresses look best with a very long, 19" glove. Short and 3/4 length sleeves go great with elbow length 15" gloves. If you are wearing long sleeves, choose a wrist length glove.
