Here are six easy steps to follow to become a successful writer for tweens, and anyone else. They were once told to me by a famous children’s writer. They are short and to the point. But they speak the truth.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • your imagination and writing tools
Step1
You are what you pretend. Pretend big, and be your biggest fan.
Step2
Impatience is fatal. Enjoy each moment of your story. If you don’t, who will?
Step3
You can’t write what you don’t know. If you don’t know, find out.
Step4
Create expectations. Then defy them. Surprise yourself.
Step5
Write your own story. No one else will.
Step6
Be passionate. And aim for the stars

Tips & Warnings

  • After you follow these rules and have finished your book, be sure to type your manuscript; hand-written manuscripts are not acceptable, no matter how legible your handwriting. DO NOT send stories on disk unless you are specifically requested to do so. Always use black type; no other color is acceptable. Use a plain typeface with a size of at least 12 point
