How to Prepare Fried Oyster Sandwiches

Oysters rarely seem like a good choice for sandwiches, but this little concoction is delicious and surprisingly filling. The recipe is a sandwich standard with a bit of a seafood twist. Read on to learn how to prepare fried oyster sandwiches.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Bluepoint oysters
  • Wasabi
  • Limes
  • Watercress
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • Sea salt
  • Freshly ground pepper
  • Hot pepper sauce
  • Baguettes
  • Garlic butter
  • Shortening
  • Tartar sauce
  1. Step 1

    Heat the shortening to 400 degrees in a deep pot.

  2. Step 2

    Slice the limes in half and squeeze the juice out of all the halves into a little bowl.

  3. Step 3

    Grind the pepper.

  4. Step 4

    Slice the baguettes in half, smear them with the garlic butter and toast them in the regular oven or a toaster oven.

  5. Step 5

    Deep fry the oysters, then let them drain on paper towels.

  6. Step 6

    Place the oysters between the two slices of a baguette and "doctor them up" with the salt, pepper, hot pepper sauce, wasabi, tartar sauce, watercress, lime juice and Worcester sauce, using your own taste preferences to determine the amounts used and what elements to leave out.
