Come on--make the leap. Not all tuna comes in cans.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 cup of Arctic bonito tuna
  • ½ pound of porcini mushrooms
  • 1 ¼ cups of milk
  • 3 tablespoons of butter
  • 2 tablespoons of flour
  • ¼ teaspoon of freshly-ground pepper
  • 3 medium-sized New potatoes
  • Shortening
  1. Step 1

In a deep pan, heat up the shortening to 400 degrees. Grind the pepper.

  2. Step 2

    Slice the potatoes paper thin.

  3. Step 3

Deep fry the potatoes until they become crisp—though not burned--chips, then drain them on paper towels. After the chips cool, crush them into crumbly bits.

  4. Step 4

Slice up the mushrooms lengthwise, put into a saucepan and begin to sauté in butter, then slowly introduce the pepper, milk and flour. Stir all this until a pleasing thickness is reached, then introduce the tuna and ¾ of the chips.

  5. Step 5

Spoon the mixture into a greased baking dish, then cover all this with what's left of the chips and bake for 30 minutes at 350 degrees.
