Can't decide whether or not to get a tattoo or what to get? Read This.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
The first thing you need to do is decide if you even want one. It will hurt not too terribly but it will hurt, and its permanent. If you decide you still want a tattoo then you need to decide what to get and were to get it. The most important decision is what you get, I recommend you pick something related to a very special part of your life that you are not ashamed of. Make sure it is something you won't be ashamed of getting when it's still there in a couple of years.
Step2
When you think you have decided the image you want then put it away and let it sit there about a month, if you come back at the end of that month and you still like it and you genuinely feel like you will always love that image then go get it. Decide were you want to get it, I recommend for your first one you put it somewhere no one can see it unless you want them too. Also keep in mind depending on were you get it will depend on the amount of pain involved. An area with a lot of muscle or fat will not hurt terribly an are were there isn't much tissue covering the bone in that area will hurt a lot. Keep these things in mind when deciding, also remember that a lot of job options will not be available to you with visible tattoos, tattoos are becoming more and more popular and acceptable but they are still not accepted everywhere.
Step3
Now you get on the internet or talk to someone you know with a tattoo and find the artist you want to go to. Once you've found the artist you want take him your idea get him to give you an estimate on the price. Get a feel for whether or not he will even do it, how much it will cost, as well as if you even like him and look at his previous work and see what you think. Remember whatever price he gives you take more money than that with you, you will need a little bit extra for lotion to apply to the tattoo while it is healing as well as money for a tip. This is extremely important make sure you tip your artist or the next time you return to him for another he might not do such a good job. He/she will tell you about the healing process. Good luck!

Tips & Warnings

  • Pick an image you will always like and is important to you.
  • Follow the directions for the healing process.
  • Research your artists work and cleanliness.
  • Tip the artist or your next tatt might not be as good.
