Turning 30 signifies a huge change in a person's life. It is when adulthood "officially" begins for most people and when you begin taking stock of your accomplishments and shortcomings. Throwing a party to celebrate a 30th birthday can be fun if it's approached correctly. Take time planning the party and be sure to get input from the birthday girl or boy. Read on to learn more.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Budget
  • Party favors
  • Gifts
  1. Step 1

Brainstorm with friends regarding what type of party to throw. Turning 30 is a major turning point for most people so your party should take that into consideration while still being fun. Brainstorming with friends will help you come up with a theme that is fun and appropriate for a 30th birthday party.

  2. Step 2

Create a guest list for the party. Because this party will be very important to the birthday boy or girl, make sure the guest list includes only the closest friends and family members. No one should attend the party that will make the birthday honoree feel inadequate or uncomfortable about his or her accomplishments.

  3. Step 3

Send out birthday invitations. Since the 30th birthday is of such great importance you should send invitations through the mail. The invitation should include all relevant information, including time, date, location, RSVP date, attire, and any other information necessary for the party. Be sure to remind invitees that it is a birthday party and gifts would be appropriate.

  4. Step 4

Purchase food, beverages and a gift for the birthday honoree. The birthday menu should include food preferred by the birthday honoree but should also take into account special diets for the party guests. Be sure that you purchase alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

  5. Step 5

Decorate your home or banquet hall before the party begins. Whether your party is themed or not, decorations should be subtle. Focus more on ambience while decorating, paying special attention to lighting and music.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be sure the birthday guest will be attending their own party.
  • Refrain from cheesy decorations that have "30th Birthday" plastered everywhere.
  • Ask someone to be the designated driver so ensure the birthday girl or boy gets home safely.
