The celebration of a special day, holiday, or relationship by giving roses has always been a popular tradition. Choosing the correct color, for it's meaning, is not always wide-spread knowledge. Show your loved one just exactly how you feel by the color of the rose(s) you give to them!

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • A Single rose
  • or:
  • A Bouquet of Roses

Step1
Each rose color has a different meaning, sometimes they even have more than one. If you want to be sure that your loved one receives the message you intended, include that information in the card you give along with the rose.
Step2
A Red Rose for Valentine's Day RED: A red rose signifies love, beauty, courage and respect. Red roses convey a simple message: "I love you". This makes them the ultimate symbol of romantic love. The Red Rose is the ideal Valentine Rose.
Step3
A Pink Rose for Appreciation PINK: A pink rose signifies grace, gentility and happiness. It also expresses appreciation and gratitude. Give this rose if in the beginning stages of a romance, when the 'blush' is just forming. A pink rose is also the perfect rose for young people, as it signifies a gentle love.
Step4
A White Rose for Innocent Love WHITE: A white rose is second only to red roses in popularity for Valentine's Day as white roses symbolize truth and innocence. They also represent silence, secrecy, reverence, humility, youthfulness and charm. You can use them to say, "You're heavenly", "I miss you" and "I’m worthy of you". A white rosebud symbolizes girlhood.
Step5
A Yellow Rose for New Beginnings YELLOW: A yellow rose signifies friendship and freedom, and doesn't necessarily signify romance. It will convey joy, gladness and delight, and also promise a new beginning.
Step6
An Orange Rose for Fascination ORANGE: An orange rose communicates desire, enthusiasm and fascination. They make an excellent choice for a new relationship that you wish to pursue further.
Step7
A Lavender Rose for Love at First Sight LAVENDER: A lavender rose reveals love at first sight or enchantment.
Step8
A Coral Rose for Passion CORAL: A coral rose speaks of desire and passion.

Tips & Warnings

  • I speak of the presentation of a single rose, which has a certain charm in, and of, itself, however ... the presentation of an entire bouquet can multiply your feelings and your message a thousand fold!
  • Never give dead (or even wilting!) roses! Dead roses in any color convey "It's over!"

on 1/26/2008 Nice article with good pictures. I like making an arrangement of the friendship with a "blush" in the middle. It will drive a man nuts trying to figure out what the heck you were thinking until they come across an article like this.
