Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • cornstarch
  • cold water
  • wisp
  1. Step 1

When you are cooking gravy or baked beans and would like to thicken your food without changing the flavor. Gather a cup with cold water, cornstarch, and a fork or wisp.

  2. Step 2

Depending on the amount needed fill a cup with cold water and add the cornstarch. It is important that this be done with cold water otherwise it will create lumps. Use the fork or wisp to mix the cornstarch into the water.

  3. Step 3

Add the cornstarch and water gradually to your food and stir continuously over a low to medium heat. Continue add the cornstarch slowly until the desired consistency is reached.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do not add cornstarch and water mixture too quickly. Doing so may lead to too much being added thus solidifying more than desired.
