How to Find Webkinz Gems in Arte's Gem Hunt

One of the most popular areas on the Webkinz.com site is Arte’s Gem Hunt. Users are permitted to search for gems once a day. You get 3 chances to find a gem; or, you may end up with worthless slag. When you collect all 30 gems from the 5 different mines, you will be awarded the super exclusive Webkinz Crown of Wonder. The crown can be worn by your online pet and it’s truly a much sought after item. So how do you increase your odds of finding the gems you need? Read on to learn more.

Things You'll Need:

• Webkinz.com account
• Computer with Internet access

1. Log into your Webkinz.com account. You must have an active account, which can be opened when you purchase a Webkinz plush animal or via a free online pet won from Webkinz trading cards.

2. Once you’re logged in, click on the "Curio Shop" tab.

3. Next, click on "Gem Hunt."

4. Click on "Your Gem Box." You should always check your gem box to see which gems you still need. You can also keep a list by your computer so you always know which gems you already have.

5. Click on "Start Hunting."

6. Choose one of the 5 mines: Buried Bones (the white mine), Flea Floater (the green mine), Muzzle Mouth (the red mine), Barking Mad (the yellow mine) or Howling Horse (the blue mine). You can only select one mine per day; so make your selection carefully.

7. Click on "Start Mining" and use the arrows to maneuver your way around the mine. When you see something sparkle, click near that area.

8. If you end up finding slag, Arte will allow you 2 more attempts to try to find a gem.

9. If after 3 attempts you have not found a gem, your turn is over until tomorrow.

10. Important Tip: The top level gems can only be found in the mine that is the same color as the gem. The top gems are as follows: The Webkinz Diamond (Buried Bones), Earth Emerald ( Flea Floater),Corona Topaz (Barking Mad), Red Ruby Heart (Muzzle Mouth) and Ocean Sapphire (Howling Horse).

11. All other gems can be found in either 2 or 3 of the mines. They are randomly moved around. When in doubt, go into the mine that is the color of the gem you are looking for.

12. Keep in mind that Webkinz can randomly switch the gems at any time (even the top level gems); so while this is not a foolproof method, it can help you in finding the gems that need. Happy Hunting!

on 6/7/2009 Tipping Arte does not help you find gems. It gets him to give you hints about when the special items are going to be in the Curio Shop. The more you tip and the more often the tip the better the clue.

on 8/25/2008 Yes it actually does. You will move up the levels more quickly if you visit teh Curio Shop every day and tip Arte. The amount of the tip does not matter!
