How to Eliminate Toxic Cleaners from Your Home

Step1
Borax can be used as a laundry soap, carpet shampoo, and upholstery cleaner. Add it to mop water with a couple drops of lemon essential oil.
Step2
Liquid soap can be used for counter tops, floors, dishes, etc. Castille soap is an excellent liquid soap. You can also make liquid soap from your favorite bar soap. Just shave off flakes of your bar soap into a dish and add water. Let set and after an hour or so. Mix together well.
Step3
Borax, baking soda and a little salt added together can be sprinkled in sinks and bathtubs. Loofas and natural sponges can be used to scrub them clean.
Step4
Vinegar is good for cleaning windows and other glass surfaces.
Step5
Baking soda is an excellent deodorizer. Sprinkle on carpets before vaccuuming, or place a small box in the fridge to eliminate odor. If you want to add fragrance, a few drops of essential oils can be placed on cotton balls and placed through out your home.
Step6
Read the labels on the products you buy. Even if a product says "non-toxic" it can still contain chemicals. If you have any doubts, try your local health food store for natural alternatives. Bleach, ammonia and phosphates are all considered to be toxic.
