The cost of renting an apartment in Chicago can be very costly. However, there are a few things that a renter can do to find a nice reasonably priced apartment for rent. Read on to learn more.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Decide what's important to you in regards to getting your apartment. Write down what's most important to you as well as things on your list that you can live without. This will help you in your decision making process. You may or may not find an apartment with everything on your wish list so you must be prepared to live without something just in case.

  2. Step 2

Look in the newspapers for apartment advertisements in your area of interest, with the apartment criteria you're looking for and the price range you're interested in.

  3. Step 3

Get an apartment guide from your local grocery store and comb through it for an apartment that fits your needs and desire.

  4. Step 4

Look for an apartment on the internet. Searching the internet for your apartment gives you the option to research many apartments and compare what each one has to offer all in one sitting.

  5. Step 5

Drive around the neighborhood that you would like to live in and look for "For Rent" signs and contact the landlord about the apartment.

  6. Step 6

Negotiate the rental amount with the landlord, if possible. It never hurts to try. You may get what you ask for.
