Step 1
Live your life reasonably. Do not feel the need to have everything someone else in your neighborhood or family buys or gets. You never know the price they have to pay or will have to pay to get it and keep it.
-
Step 2
Attend community functions that offer free entertainment on specific days.
-
Step 3
Rent your movies from your local library unless it's a movie that you really want to see. Most libraries loan out their movies at no cost.
-
Step 4
Go to the discount movie theatre or as some refer to it, the "Dollar or Two Dollar Show" to see your movies. You may have to wait a week or two before it gets to the discount movie theatre to see it.
-
Step 5
Stay away from acquiring unnecessary credit and credit cards. Acquiring credit cards and additional credit tempts you to purchase unnecessary items resulting in unnecessary debt increase. The more debt you attain, the more money you need to pay off your debts.
-
Step 6
Shop at outlet stores and discount stores to find quality items for less money.
-
Step 7
Use coupons when buying groceries. Many have been know to save hundreds of dollars just by clipping coupons. If you don't mind clipping coupons, you can save a good deal of money.
-
Step 8
Purchase items with cash as much as possible. Having this mind set will help to limit your debt because if you can't buy it with cash right away, it will allow you the time to decide whether it's really something you need or not as opposed to buying things on impulse simply because you have a credit card with the available credit to purchase whatever you want and yet most times, regret it later.
-
Step 9
Save and invest the extra money each month that you now have.

on 8/5/2009 I wish my area had a discount movie theater. But I have cable and Netflix, so unless I really want to see it in the theater, I just wait... Great article. :o)
