How to prepare a speech and deliver it effectively.Don't let performance jitters upset you.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Consider who your audience will be when planning a speech. What is your topic of interest to them?
Who are they?how much do they already know?what is your relationship to the audience?Keep these related considerations in mind as you proceed.
To organize your speech, write down three or four main points that you want your audience to remember.
Step2
In a single clear sentence, summarize each idea and then group pertinent information around each of those ideas.Write your speech using words and sentences that are short and clear.Write down the main points on 3x5 index cards.Fact and statistics may be important to your topic, but dramatic stories involving real people will have a good impact on your audience also.
Step3
Rehearse your speech until you feel comfortable with it and time your delivery to match the alloted minutes you have to give your speech.Practice your speech in front of your family, and ask them for honest feedback.Speak slowly and loudly. Stand in a relaxed manner with your feet slightly apart and your hands at your side.
Step4
Make eye contact with your audience whenever possible.Try not to sound like you are reading your speech.Refer to your note cards as help aids only.
Relaxation exercises or meditation may help prepare you physically and mentally.GOOD LUCK!!!
