How to Make an Easter Egg Tree Centerpiece

Easter egg tree make wonderful centerpieces in any room in your home. If you live in an apartment, then an Easter egg tree centerpiece is a great way to carry on this fun Southern tradition and decorate your home at the same time.

Things You'll Need:

  • Easter eggs
  • Branches
  • Coffee cans
  • Paint
  • Primer
  • River bocks
  • String
  • Spray paint
  1. Step 1

    Cut a branch from a tree in the yard that is about 3 feet tall. This branch should be at least 2 to 3 inches thick and have many small branches.

  2. Step 2

    Spray paint the branch in a pastel or white color. Do this in a well ventilated area or outside. Apply as many coats as needed to completely color the branch.

  3. Step 3

    Paint your metal coffee can in another color of pastel spray paint. You can also paint on leftover house paint.

  4. Step 4

    Fill the dried paint can about halfway with rocks from your yard.

  5. Step 5

    Insert the painted tree branch in the middle of the coffee can. Fill in around the tree branch with the rest of the stones all the way to the top of the can.

  6. Step 6

    Cut 6-to-8-inch pieces of twine or fishing line. Tie these to the different branches on your tree centerpiece. Space them out as evenly as possible. Only tie the strings to the sturdy branches. Leave the twine hanging down.

  7. Step 7

    Open the plastic Easter eggs into two halves. Apply the Easter eggs to the string, closing them around the string to hang them from the centerpiece.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can paint the plastic Easter eggs to customize them as well. Start by spraying on a white primer. To protect the kids and keep the eggs looking great on the centerpiece for years seal their work on the eggs with clear acrylic spray paint.
  • You can buy branches at your local floral store if you do not have a yard. Branches laying on the ground in the local park will work as well.
  • While the paint is wet on the tree branch you can also sprinkle on some matching glitter. Shake this off outside to keep glitter from getting all over your house.
  • Try filling in the coffee can older of the Easter egg tree centerpiece with some Easter basket grass for amore colorful look.
