This area of the city, located in the East 30s, is a throwback to the city many decades ago.

From Quick Guide: Enjoy Local Sightseeing
Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Many of the buildings have been untouched since the '60s or before. Walk around the area (the 30's between First and Third avenues) and pretend that you're in an episode of "The Odd Couple." Stop in an old Jewish deli for the complete experience.

  2. Step 2

Check out Sarge's Deli for great corned beef without the attitude or the high prices of the Carnegie Deli. As Soupy Sales immortalized on their wall of headshots, "breakfast, lunch, or dinner, Sarge's is a winner!"

  3. Step 3

To relive (or experience for the first time) the 80's, go to Joshua Tree. THey always play a great variety of '80s music, and the atmosphere is festive.

  4. Step 4

Head over to the Morgan Library. They have an extensive collection of original famous manuscripts and documents, including an illustrated Book of Revelations from 1220.
