This vintage ceiling tin wall pocket is a fun shabby chic craft that looks great in any room in the home. You can use your vintage tin ceiling wall pocket to display fresh and dried flowers throughout your home.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 2 vintage ceiling tins
  • Wire cutters
  • Drill
  • Metal cutting drill bit
  • Floral wire
  • Bud vase
  • Tin Snips

Step1
Cut one ceiling tile to the size you want for your vintage wall pocket. You can use the whole vintage ceiling tile or make it smaller.
Step2
Drill a hole about two inches down from the top of the tile all the way through.
Step3
Bend the second vintage ceiling tile into a half cylinder. This will be the front of the wall pocket.
Step4
Drill holes in the sides and bottom of the curved ceiling tile. These should be near the edge, about ΒΌ inch in from tree side.
Step5
Lay the curved ceiling tile in place on top of the first flat tile. Line up the bottom of the two tiles together as well as the sides.
Step6
Mark where the holes are on the front tile. Simply slide a marker through the holes and dab a dot onto the back tile. Drill the holes through the back tile.
Step7
Line the two vintage tiles up again. Cut a long piece of floral wire. Tie a knot in the end of it. Start from the back on the bottom left and thread the wire through the two holes. Pull the wire out the front and thread it back into the nest hole, just like lacing up a pair of shoes.
Step8
Tie the end of the floral wire into a knot when you thread the last hole. Hang the vintage wall peck on the wall. Slip a bud vase into the pocket you created and put a flower in the vase.

Tips & Warnings

  • The metal will rust if you have water touching it. This is the point of the bud vase. You can seal your metal with a clear oil-based burnish if you wish. Seal the line where the two meet with a clear epoxy glue. This will be waterproof for a time, but not forever.
  • Wear gloves while drilling and bending the wall tiles to avoid cutting your hand.
