Make sure the skies stay sunny on your honeymoon.

Don’t let bad weather ruin the romance of a honeymoon. Plan ahead to avoid a hurricane on your honeymoon. Read on to learn more.

From Quick Guide: Introduction to Honeymoons
Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Hurricanes only form during a specific season, which runs from the beginning of June until the end of November. Try to avoid travel during this time.

  2. Step 2

If you can’t avoid honeymooning during those months, consider a safer destination. Hurricane hot spots include islands in the Caribbean Sea, the northern coast of South America, Central America, Mexico as well as much of the coastal United States.

  3. Step 3

Purchase travel insurance prior to the trip. That way if a hurricane is headed in the direction of your honeymoon destination, you may be able to adjust travel plans.

Tips & Warnings
  • Check with your travel agency to find out about alternate plans or return flights in the event of a hurricane.
  • If you do go into the hurricane zone, create an emergency plan before departing. Even inland areas can experience damaging winds and flooding.
