On the hunt for a colorful button bouquet? Or a fine art photography print featuring trees in winter? Etsy is an online marketplace where hundreds of thousands of artists sell handmade items and buyers snatch them up. Read on to learn how to find what you’re looking for.

1. Log onto www.etsy.com. Anyone interested in art and handmade items should prepare to devote some serious browsing time.
2. Take a look around. There are 17 different ways to search for items. There’s a traditional search bar at the top of the page and a long list of alternatives including a page that shows you which Etsy sellers are celebrating a birthday.
3. Once an item is selected, buy directly from the seller. Sellers accept PayPal and some accept money orders or other forms of payment.

Tips & Warnings

• You can buy from multiple sellers at once. Etsy asks you to choose how you would like to pay each seller.
• If purchases are made from multiple sellers, shipping will be charged for each item individually.
