Filled with cool, hip people and tons of great restaurants, bars, and shops, the Park Slope area of Brooklyn offers an alternative for New Yorkers who want more green in their lives. The following will help you get the most out of your visit to Park Slope.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Located about 30 to 45 minutes from Midtown Manhattan by subway, Park Slope is quiet and green. Prospect Park is only a short walk away from anyplace in the neighborhood and there are trees on every street. To start take a walk in the park. You might even forget you're in the city.

  2. Step 2

When you're ready to leave, head east to 7th Avenue or farther to 5th Avenue. These two avenues host a slew of shops and restaurants, but they have very different vibes: 7th Avenue is more like the Upper West Side while 5th Avenue is like a cleaner, greener East Village/Lower East Side.

  3. Step 3

If you're looking to buy a new luxury condo, 4th Avenue is a place of interest. New condos are going up there because of looser zoning restrictions. They look very nice but are very different from the brownstones that cover the rest of the neighborhood.

  4. Step 4

There are too many great places to list and everyone has their own opinion. Aunt Suzie's on 5th Avenue offers great Italian food at really great prices and the waitstaff is always really friendly.

  5. Step 5

Choose one of the avenues and walk south till you get to 15th Street. That's where the neighborhood ends. Then if you have the energy you can walk back up another avenue to see something different. If you're too tired, the subway is nearby.
