Here are tips to help you make the most out of your trip to Greenwich Village in New York City.

From Quick Guide: Enjoy Local Sightseeing
Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Fat Cat. This is not your average pool hall. They also have table tennis, regular games, and live jazz at night. You have to pay for the jazz if you want to sit and listen. It's better, though, to go to play pool because you can listen while you play.

  2. Step 2

When you just want to chill and hear endless jazz in a small intimate room, Small's is the place. You can no longer bring in your own booze (those were the days) but on the weekend they give you a free drink with admission.

  3. Step 3

Take a walk on Christopher Street to see the remnants of this famous flaming street. Mixed in with the infamous bars and shops are new stores, restaurants, and the Playwrights Walk of Fame. While not nearly as big as the Hollywood equivalent, it's still a must for theater buffs.

  4. Step 4

Take in a show at one of the great small theaters: Cherry Lane (many famous plays premiered here), Rattlestick, or Barrow Street. Cap off your night with a drink or cup of coffee at one of the many coffeehouses that aren't Starbucks. Yes, they do still exist.
