Baby-soft skin need not be confined to babies. With enough dedication and high-quality lotion, you can pamper and soften the largest organ of your body. Watch calluses melt away, cracked knuckles heal and dry feet become soft enough to pet the dog. Some simple steps will help you rejuvenate dry skin.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Salt
  • Sugar
  • Heavy-duty daily use lotion
  • Body butter lotion
  • Loofah or other body sponge

Step1
Get rid of the old skin. Slough off dull, dead skin by doing a full body salt scrub. Mix salt with enough water to make it into a paste then slather on your body in the shower. Rub with a loofah in a circular motion. Repeat at first once a week, then once a month.
Step2
Soften the new skin. Get baby smooth with a sugar scrub. Mix sugar with water into a paste and rub into body with a loofah, repeating once a week and then once a month.
Step3
Slather on lotion. Use a quality skin lotion at least twice a day on every inch of skin. Apply lotion when your skin is still damp from the shower and right before bed. Use a heavy-duty daily-use lotion in the a.m. and the body butter at night.
Step4
Keep specialty lotion on hand for problem areas, such as cracked hands or feet. Apply to those areas at least three times a day, even encasing in soft cotton gloves or booties for sleeping.

Tips & Warnings

  • Spend the extra bucks to get a quality lotion rather than generic. Your skin is worth it.
  • Baby oil and bath oils also work to soften dry skin.
  • Clean the tub thoroughly after the salt and sugar rubs.
  • Don’t use scented lotions and then apply perfume. Yuck.
  • Don’t use scented lotions and then go hiking in the woods unless you like bug bites.
