Baked orange French toast is delicious and is made using fresh orange juice. If you have the time to squeeze your own juice, this will be even more delectable!

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 1/4 cup fresh orange juice
  • 2 large egg whites
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 6 slices day old French bread - cut 1 inch thick
  • 1 tbsp powdered sugar (caster sugar)
  • 1 medium orange, peeled and cut into 6 wedges

Step1
Preheat oven to 350ºF. Prepare the cookie sheet in advance by laying baking paper over it, or using a non-stick spray or oil/butter.
Step2
In a large bowl, pour the orange juice, vanilla and egg whites. Beat together.
Step3
Take the bread slices and dip on both sides. Lay on the cookie sheet once dipped.
Step4
When all bread slices are dipped and are laying on the cookie sheet, pour the remaining juice mixture evenly over the slices.
Step5
Place in the oven. Back for 15 to 17 minutes, or until golden brown. It is important to turn them over halfway through, at about 8 minutes.
Step6
Remove from the oven and serve hot. Add the powdered sugar and orange wedges prior to serving.

Tips & Warnings

  • This will make 6 slices, which is approximately 3 servings.
