How to Create an Inspiration Board

Whether you are planning a wedding, decorating a room or just looking for a place to put inspiring objects, an inspiration board may help. An inspiration board is just like the collages you did as a child, but with a grown-up twist. Read on to learn how to make one.

Things You'll Need:

• A bulletin board or foam board
• Magazine Clippings
• Photos
• Small colorful items

1. Cover your inspiration board with colorful fabric, paint or paper. Create a unique canvas to build off of.

2. Start collecting small items that catch your eye. Whether it’s a photo from a magazine, a piece of ribbon or the packaging from a soup can, anything that you find visually appealing can go on the inspiration board.

3. Attach the small items with tacks, tape or glue.

4. Watch your inspiration board take shape.

Tips & Warnings

• It may be helpful to stick to a color scheme with your inspiration board, especially if you are using it to plan a wedding or party.
• Be creative! After all, that’s the purpose of the inspiration board.

on 2/13/2009 Looking for ideas along the same lines as an inspration board for myself that I can take with me like a small scrapbook that I can keep with me and add on to as I go. Any ideas?

on 7/16/2008 Great idea. For the small items, I think beads can be used or something shiny cause the wedding hall would be very bright and shiny plastic crystal, would be great.
