Looking for shoes to match your wedding gown? The most important thing to remember is that comfort comes first. Here's what to look for when choosing wedding shoes.

From Quick Guide: Wedding Shoes 101
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Find shoes that fit perfectly. Special order the correct width if necessary.

  2. Step 2

Choose shoes that are as comfortable as possible. You are going to be on your feet quite a bit, and you're going to be walking around in large and complicated garment.

  3. Step 3

Choose shoes that are sturdy enough for the occasion. If you're getting married outside, delicate satin shoes aren't a good idea.

  4. Step 4

Choose shoes that match the color and fabric of your gown, or at least ones that don't clash.

  5. Step 5

Purchase your shoes at a department store or discount shoe store. Bridal boutiques often overcharge for the exact same shoes, so only buy your shoes there if they have reasonable prices.

  6. Step 6

Wear in your shoes as much as possible before the wedding. You'll appreciate it when your shoes are comfortable.

Tips & Warnings
  • White shoes aren't a requirement. If your dress has some pink, blue, or other color in it, dye your shoes to match for a colorful touch.
  • Consider forgoing the traditional shoes in favor of sneakers or ballet flats, especially if your dress is long enough to cover your feet.
