How to Make the Perfect Margarita
The perfect or true margarita is made with three basic ingredients: tequila, orange liqueur and lime juice. These elements should be mixed in a ratio of 3 parts tequila to 2 parts liquer to 1 part lime juice. For a sweeter margarita, add a spoonful of simple syrup. Make this recipe on the rocks. Things You'll Need
- Lime slices
- Coarse salt
- Ice
- Cocktail shaker
- Tequila
- Orange liqueur, such as Triple Sec
- Lime juice, preferably fresh
- Simple syrup, optional

Use a good quality silver, blanco or reposado tequila to provide the "bite" you want to experience in a margarita.

Rub the rim of the margarita glass with a lime wedge and then dip the glass rim into the coarse salt. Carefully add ice to the glass without disturbing the salt.

Fill a shaker half way with ice. Add 2 ounces tequila, 1 ounce orange liqueur and 1/2 ounce lime juice. For a sweeter margarita, add a spoonful of simple syrup. Shake 3 or 4 times and pour into salt-rimmed glass.

Garnish with a lime slice or an orange twist.

Mmmm...you've got my mouth craving one of these. I don't know who invented margaritas but I really hope they were nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize :-) -

I love margaritas in the summertime. I never knew how to make it so I always just end up buying a margarita bucket mix where you just add a fifth of tequila and either chill in the fridge or put in the freezer for a more slushy version. It's been about 2 years since I've had one, but it sounds reeeeeeeeaaal yummy right about now! -
