There exists numerous techniques for mopping the floor. There are various advertised materials and supplies. We've witnessed the advertisements for the long sticks with the rectangular, flat disposal pads attached to the end. Such cleaning tools are excellent for some households, and probably very easy to use. However, in my household a few tiny pads may not get the job done. I have a total care daughter, and we have people coming and going all day; some visiting; some coming in from home health agencies. My floors get dirty, not only from soil and pills but also from germs being carried in on the soles of shoes. I have to attend to this chore routinely, and I want the cleanest possible floors, evident to the eyes, and evident by a decrease in illnesses being brought in on my daughter. I have developed a technique for mopping and cleaning my floors which has proven to be effective for me and my demanding household. This method will work for you as well. As always, my prayer for you and your loved ones is to remain healthy and safe, become wealthy, and grow wiser.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • A regular cloth mop
  • A medium sized pail
  • A bath tub for preparing the mopping supplies.
  • A bath tub with a spout or some other form of clean warm water
  • Whatever cleaning solution you prefer
  • Common, everyday, any brand of household bleach
  • Old clothing for you to wear
  • Disposal pair of gloves

1. Gather materials and supplies.
2. Sweep the floor planned to be mopped.
3. Fill the pail 1/2 with water and add the cleaning solution and 1/8 cup of bleach.
4. Wet a clean mop under the tub facet using hot water.
5. Immerse the mop in the pail of water.
6. Wring out the mop until no liquid drips from the mop.
Step2
"Be careful so we little won't slip on a wet floor." 1. Move the mop over every inch of the floor to be cleaned.
2. Return to the bath tub, and rinse the mop under the facet until the mop is perfectly clean again.
3. Immerse the clean mop into the pail again.
4. Wring out the mop until no liquid drips from the mop.
Step3

3. Move the mop over every inch of the floor to be rinsed.
4. Hola! Your floor is clean, both visually and completed disinfected, for sure.
Step4
1. Immerse the mop into the pail again and dance it through out the water. This will wash your mop thoroughly.
2. Rinse the mop under the facet until the water runs is clear.
3. Wring out the mop until no liquid drips from the mop.
4. Your mop is ready to hang outside to dry. Store in a closet after drying.

Tips & Warnings

  • The bleach will kill the germs. I would rather have a germ free floor than a pretty shiny floor any day.
  • Hanging the mop outside to dry will help keep germs out of a mop that might be sitting around for days in a damp condition.
  • If someone insists on walking on your 'wet' floor while you are doing the job, offer the mop handle to this person, and say, "Have at it." This is a sure way to break trespassers from tracking up your wet floor.
  • Store the jug of bleach inside the your mopping pail. Hide the pail and the bleach or someone will take them for some other project and you will be left without. I don't allow my pail to be used for any activity aside from mopping. Mopping is a priority in this household because of my daughter's compromised condition.
  • Always be careful when wetting the floor. Slips can be cause serious injuries.
  • Wearing gloves will protect your hands from the harshness of bleach and cleaning solutions.
  • Wearing old clothes will help to prevent little round white spots on your everyday clothing. I need to take my own advice on this one.
