Step1
You are probably used to the selfish logic of the modern time and civilization, according to which your happiness is more important than anything else and other people’s feelings and wants comes second for you. Your own necessities and ambitions come first.
This is the false logic of selfishness that leads to insanity and is completely absurd, although you are used to consider it as the smart thing to do.
There is a difference between the survival instinct and the selfish logic of your ego. When you first think about your own hunger you are surviving, but when you think first of all about your ambitions, you are being indifferent to other people’s pain.
Step2
Why absurd? Their pain doesn’t bother you. This is how false logic makes you think: you care only for what affects you directly.
This is absurd because what affects you indirectly or after a certain period of time causes much damage to your life. However, you do not consider the indirect consequences of your actions; you only care about the present.
However, the indirect consequences of your selfishness will suddenly attack and destroy your life completely in the most horrible way. The hungry creature that was starving in front of your eyes but didn't receive your attention will kill your kids, burn your house and make your entire world come crashing down.
Step3
This is what happens everyday in our planet, but you try to forget the bad aspects of life and concentrate in your own private world of friends and relatives.
However, if you wish to be emotionally healthy and sensible, you must care for other people’s happiness just as you care for your own, and not only with the selfish intention of keeping your own peace, but because you feel empathy.
How can you be so cold and indifferent to their suffering?
Would you like to be in their place?
Step4
Remember how many times in your life you may have been saved by another’s generosity and goodness. Remember how much you blessed and thanked those who helped you in your worse moments!
Now, remember how many times you have protected and helped someone. Remember the things you gave others, the happiness you provided them… remember it all.
For now on, try to be always very sensitive and think about all the aspects of reality.
Step5
The other people who are close to you are like parts of your own body!
Your happiness depends on theirs, even though you believe you can be happy in your own private world, while they are suffering on the other side.
Step6
Be wise and open your arms with compassion. Help everyone, forgive your enemies, always be the one who brings everywhere wisdom, love and peace.
Make everyone happy with your actions and feel happier with their smile than with yours.
This is how you can be really happy, without trying to close your eyes in front of what you dislike. Instead, you will live in a place where happiness exists in everyone’s heart and lasts forever, without disappearing like all the ephemeral happy moments of your life in a world constantly frightened by terrorism, poverty and indifference to human rights.
