While there are some recipes for this easy fruit confection that call for adding sugar and butter and cocoa powder together, this is the easy way. Cut through all the ingredients and get right down to it. All you need is a large chocolate bar weighing 7 ounces or more and the fruit of your choice.
Step2
Finished chocolate covered strawberries
Start by breaking the chocolate bar into small pieces and putting them into a microwave safe bowl. Place this in the microwave and heat on medium for one minute. After one minutes, take the bowl out, stir the chocolate and replace for another minute. Repeat until the chocolate is smooth and creamy. As for the chocolate, any chocolate will work. I like to get the charity bars from the Dollar Store.
Where you get the fruit is up to you. It doesn't matter if the fruit comes from a fruit stand, grocery store or your own garden. Give the fruit a quick rinse under running water and pat dry. Leaving the stems and leaves on adds to the charm of the finished candy and gives you something to hold onto while dipping.
Step3
Chocolate covered cherries
Once the chocolate is melted and smooth, dip each of the strawberries or cherries into the chocolate being sure to coat the fruit on all sides without getting the stem or leaves. Brush the bottom of the dipped fruit on the dull side of a knife to get the extra chocolate off and then place on wax paper or parchment paper. Allow to cool thoroughly or until the chocolate hardens. Enjoy
Tips & Warnings
If you dip cherries, make sure anyone you offer them to knows there are pits and to no bite down as if it's just fruit and chocolate.
Using wax paper or parchment paper will make it easier to remove the fruits later. Paper towels will stick to and adhere to the confection.
