Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Things You’ll Need:
- Perseverance
- Organization
- Hard work
Step1
Announce it. Ask the principal to allow you to announce upcoming and ongoing events for the yearbook at every assembly and every morning during announcements. Keeping students informed during the period of yearbook production will generate excitement and excitement will lead to sales.
Step2
Include everyone! Send forth your photographers into the classrooms and hallways and tell them to take pictures of everyone, not just the popular kids. The goal in our Yearbook class was to have at least two pictures of every single student in the yearbook, their class shot and one candid. Tell the student body this so they will want to buy a yearbook.
Step3
Fundraise. Hold fundraisers throughout the school year. Try car washes, raffles and dances. These fundraisers will pull in more money for a bigger and better yearbook and will show the student body how hard the staff is working to produce a quality book. This will help sales!
Step4
Advertise. Put a Buy Your Yearbook link on the school website. Nowadays, people are used to paying for things online and a convenient place to purchase for parents is always a good thing! Also, consider having staff members put links to the "Buy Your Yearbook" on their personal webpages, like those on MySpace or Facebook.
Step5
Send your staff out to local businesses to sell advertisements. Once these businesses purchase an advertisement they are also likely to purchase the yearbook it will run in!
Step6
Stay in their faces! Have staff wear "Buy a Yearbook" t-shirts. Put a Buy a Yearbook sticker on your cars. Post signs all over the school and in local businesses. Make your entire community aware that this years yearbook will be the best ever and you will pull in more sales!
