How to Raise a Husband

Everyone knows raising children can be trying. If truth be told, it can be a hair pulling experience. However, rearing children is a breeze when compared to raising a husband. In order to accept your spouse as a man, not become the typical nag and still manage to raise him to adulthood, try to follow these steps.

1. Remember, child rearing versus husband rearing is a common comparison, and child rearing is much easier.
2. Men need nurturing the same as children; but be careful you don’t mother him.
3. Keep him in the place of a spouse, not a child nor a father. This isn't an easy feat, since you are raising him, but it can be done.
4. He isn’t helpless so don’t wait on him. If you start waiting on him it’s only a matter of time before this will be expected. You wait on children when they're too small to do for themselves, not on adults who are just spoiled and lazy. The idea is to raise him to be self sufficient.
5. Remind him that you’re not his mother, you’re his wife. This is a common misconception among men and it is not a good place for a woman to be.
6. Be a partner and don’t overbear. He needs to feel he is in charge at least some of the time.
7. Be kind and let him think he’s the boss when necessary. It will save face for him and save frustration for you. It also helps him learn to make decisions and live with the consequences.
8. Always keep in mind that there is only one way to raise a husband and that is to take baby steps. They can’t handle anything more than that.
