Beaded coasters are very pretty and are a great way to protect your table from the condensation that forms on glasses. They're complicated to make if you are weaving them, but they can be easily made without weaving! Read on to learn how to make a beaded coaster easily!

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • round cork board
  • bunches of seed beads
  • waterproof glue that dries clear
  • paper
  • straight pin
Step1
Seed beads can be bought loose or in bunches that are already on strings. You want the ones that are on strings already.
Step2
Trace the cork onto the piece of paper and cut out the circle.
Step3
Fold the circle in half, then in quarters. This helps you to find the center of the circle.
Step4
Lay the paper pattern over the cork and mark the center of the cork.
Step5
Take one string of the beads (careful that they don't come off) and use the needle to pin the last bead into the center of the cork. Put glue around the centered bead.
Step6
Carefully wrap the string of beads around the center bead, forming a spiral. Make sure to push the beads together closely. If the string runs out, start where you left off with a new string. Keep doing this until you've covered the whole cork, adding glue as needed.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can add a bit of felt to the bottom of the coaster if desired.
