Having a party in the winter can be just as fun as summer parties because when it’s cold, the focus tends to be on a small, intimate gatherings rather than a backyard full of people. Winter is when people are looking for things to do and good friends get together.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Good friends
  • Mellow music
  • Food
  • Warm beverages—apple cider or juice, cocoa, spiced wine
  • Board or card games
  • Videos
  1. Step 1

Invite a small group of people, like your closest circle of friends, your church small group, or two or three couples.

  2. Step 2

While mellow, good for ambience-type music is playing softly in the background, serve savory food such as beef or chicken stew, spaghetti, or chili. Have appetizers on hand like a cheese dip, meatballs, or bite-sized smoked sausages. For dessert, homemade chocolate chip or butter cookies are always a hit, or, because it’s a small group of people, it’s fine to have a layer cake.

Warm beverages are totally cool for winter parties. Serve hot apple cider or juice with cinnamon sprinkled on top, hot cocoa—with milk, not water, and with real cocoa powder, not that mix stuff—or warm, spiced wine.

  3. Step 3

Play games like UNO, Pictionary, Twister, even good old-fashioned Charades.

  4. Step 4

Watch a fun, winter-themed movie like Snow Day or Last Holiday.
