How to Help Less Fortunate Family Members

In every family, there are family members who are less fortunate. It does not mean, of course, that anyone is less of a person than any other family member because everyone comes from the same blood line. It only means that they may have less resources than some other family members. In these cases, family members who are more fortunate can come together and help the less fortunate family members resulting in a more loving and prosperous family as a whole.

1. Have a good attitude about and toward all of your family members including the less the fortunate ones. Never look down on anyone simply because they are less fortunate than you are. Everyone needs help from somebody else at some point in their lives.
2. Be willing to give and help your family members wholeheartedly without expecting something in return from them. They may not be able to give much, if anything, back at that moment in their lives. Never make your less fortunate family member(s) feel like they owe you anything when you help them. Help them with a sincere heart.
3. Encourage other family members to join together with you to help your less fortunate family members if it's something you cannot do alone.
4. Ask your less fortunate family members what you can do for them. Let them see that you really care and want to help them in whatever way you can. Don't always wait for them to ask for help. Often times, their pain and suffering is evident.
5. Spend time with your family members. If you do not have monetary or material items to assist your less fortunate family members with, don't feel guilty. Spending time with someone and encouraging him, imparting knowledge or running errands for family members, for example, are other ways of helping also.
6. Give items that you have, yet no longer need or use realizing that your relatives may be able to make good use of them. Make sure they are in good condition.

Tips & Warnings

• Don't choose to ignore your family member's pain. If you see that a family member needs help, and you have it in your power to help them, then help your relative(s). You would want them to do the same for you in your time of need.
