Search engine optimization is the art of creating content that is crawled and indexed for the keyword you are trying to portray. Tailoring your content to a specific keyword and to the right keyword density is at the heart of search-engine optimization.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Know your keyword. You must know what keyword or keyphrase you are trying to be optimized for. This keyword will not only be the topic of your content, but it will also be added a precise amount of times to your article.

  2. Step 2

Know your density. Keyword density is a tricky thing. Too little keyword density and the content will not appear favorable to search engines. Too high a keyword-density percentage and the content may be flagged as SPAM. The proper keyword density is between 2% and 5% of the total words. A great site to use is located textalyser.net. This site can tell you the keyword density of any amount of words.

  3. Step 3

Write great content. Unlike the days of old, content that is keyword optimized for search engines now needs to be readable and informative. If you are posting content on your website or blog with search engine optimization in mind, stuffing the keywords into just any copy will no longer appease the crawlers.

  4. Step 4

Know where the keywords should be placed. The best place to write the keywords in your content are in the first sentence of the first paragraph, in the last sentence of the first paragraph, once in every paragraph of the body and once in the last sentence of the last paragraph.

Tips & Warnings
  • Keyword density over 5% may be flagged as SPAM.
  • Never over-add your keywords.

on 5/30/2008 The most important aspect of on-page optimization is to ensure that your content is unique and informative. This will help you ward-off duplicate penalty. Having an informative website will help you gain back links automatically from other websites. This could help to improve search engine rankings of your website. rgds, http://seoindia.bsolutions5.com
