How to Embroider a Diaper Cover

Are you going to a baby shower soon and would like to give something more personal than a bag of diapers? If you know how to embroider, with a little time and effort, you can make a personalized embroidered diaper cover that will thrill any mommy to be.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

• Solid color cloth toddler panties-size 24 months
• Ruler
• Tailor’s chalk
• Embroidery thread, colors should show up on panties
• Needles
• Embroidery hoop, small enough to fit the panties
• Scissors

1. Find out what the new baby’s name will be. You will be embroidering it on the diaper cover. If they have not chosen a name, you can still embroider it with simple phrases like, “Little Angel” or “Daddy’s Boy” or something short.

2. Lay the panties on a flat surface with the backside up. Use the ruler and tailor’s chalk to lightly draw a line across the back of the panties. Write the baby’s name or simple phrase on the line, making sure to center it.

3. For a baby girl: on either side of the name lightly draw 2 parentheses from about 2 to 3 inches above and below the line. Using these as a guide, draw a gently winding line, daisy chain flowers and leaves. Place a few dots for French knots. These will become a branch of flowers.

4. For a baby boy, lightly draw the same parenthesis. Using this as a guide, draw little balls or blocks with letters inside on either side of the curved line. The line will become a rope with balls and blocks instead of a branch of flowers.

5. Put the panties into the embroidery hoop and embroider the designs. Use daisy chain stitches for the flowers and leaves. Use whipped back stitches for the name, stems of the flowers, and all the decoration on the baby boy pants.
