Here's an easy and inexpensive way to make a household cleaning solution that's nearly identical to nationally-advertised brands.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 32-oz. spray bottle
  • 1 oz. scented ammonia
  • 4 oz. isopropyl alcohol
  • 1/4 tsp. dish detergent

Step1
Rinse out a 32-oz. spray bottle, or buy a new one. If you use a 16-oz. bottle, use one-half the amount of ingredients listed.
Step2
Add 1 oz. of scented ammonia and 4 oz. of isopropyl alcohol to the bottle. Fill the spray bottle with water almost to the top.
Step3
Add 1/4 tsp. of dish detergent to the bottle and tighten the sprayer cap. Mix in the detergent by inverting the bottle a few times and gently shaking it.
Step4
Use the spray cleaner with paper towels to clean glass, kitchen counters, stove tops and other hard surfaces.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can make up a one-gallon batch for refills using 4 oz. of scented ammonia, 16 oz. of isopropyl alcohol and 1 tsp. of dish detergent.
  • Never mix bleach and ammonia, because it releases toxic chlorine gas.
