Even the most prepared parent forgets to bring the diaper bag sometimes. And usually the one time you forget to bring the diaper bag is the very same day that your child spits up all over his outfit and has a massive diaper blow-out—all within 15 minutes. Fortunately, you can be prepared for diaper disasters like this by packing an emergency diaper kit for your car.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Small or medium-sized storage tub
  • Three diapers
  • Travel pack of wipes
  • Small tube of diaper cream
  • Receiving blanket
  • Changing pad
  • Body suit
  • Burp cloth
  • Pacifier
  1. Step 1

Clean out the trunk of your car to make space for the storage tub.

  2. Step 2

Pack all of the listed items into the storage tub.

  3. Step 3

Place the tub in the trunk of your car.

  4. Step 4

Check the contents of the tub periodically. You’ll want to make sure that the body suit still fits your baby, that there are enough diapers in the correct size and that the wipes are replaced if they’ve dried out.

Tips & Warnings
  • Restock the tub with diapers and wipes as soon as you get home after dealing with a diaper emergency. Otherwise, you may forget and won’t be as prepared for the next time you need a spare diaper or extra wipes.

on 4/24/2008 We also keep a hat and a tube of sunblock in there for those impromptu trips to the park.

If you use a wipes box, be sure to put the wipes into a plastic bag inside the box. The boxes are not truly airtight, and may dry out in the longer intervals between use. Even a "resealable" travel bag may dry out. Ziploc bags work great.
