Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- Plain china plate
- Cleaning fluid
- Cloth
- Pencil
- Cup
- Masking film
- Scissors
- Craft knife
- Cutting mat
- Sponge
- Paint dish
- Water based ceramic paint
Step1
Clean the plate. Draw a shape (depending on what you are making the plates for) like a circle or a heart on to the backing paper of the masking film. You will need eight of these. Cut out the shapes. Fold the shape in half 3 or 4 times.
Step2
Draw a snowflake-type design on a folded edge that can be cut away. Ensure that parts of the folded edge remain intact. Cut out the design with a craft knife. When you have finished all eight, unfold them and remove the backing paper.
Step3
Position them on the plate where you would like them. Load a sponge cube with a medium shade of the color group you are using and dab it all over the plate. When dry, load a sponge cube with a darker shade of the same color and sponge paint around the outer and inner rims. Allow to dry.
Step4
Dab a sponge cube with gold paint and dab lightly around the rim and on the plate to highlight. Allow to dry and remove the masking film. Set the paint following the manufacturer's instructions.
