Steroids have become an unfortunate reality with our young teenagers in today's society and knowing how to properly explain them is vital to their development. With more and more steroid scandals popping up, it is important to talk with them.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Any discussion of steroids should begin with a lesson on how it damages your body beyond repair. Take the time to sit down and tell your teenager why they are dangerous, and what they do to your body. Most teenagers will only hear the benefits from people trying to sell them.

  2. Step 2

Next, it would be good to explain how steroids are a shortcut in life, and a dangerous shortcut at that. Shortcuts are usually damaging in some way in life, not to mention unfair to many. Take the time to explain why.

  3. Step 3

If your teenager is involved in sports, explain why cheating is bad. Today's sports stars are a perfect template to use as to why cheating is not acceptable and what will happen if they do cheat. Cheaters will lose in the long run, and your teenager will need to know why.

  4. Step 4

Make the comparison between drugs and steroids clear and explain that they are the same thing. This is a great time to address that drug problem in society as well.

  5. Step 5

Engage your teenager in a conversation about a current scandal and find out where his mind and opinions are. Knowing what your teenager is thinking is vital to knowing what you need to tell them. Let them contribute to the conversation and you will get much better results.
