The Upper East Side is known for the old money of New York, but there's lots more to see in this quite neighborhood. The following are tips on how to make the most of your visit to the upper east side.
The Museum Mile. A stretch of Fifth Avenue that stretches from 82nd to 105th street. Highlights are the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Guggenheim, and the Cooper Hewitt.

Don't stop on Fifth Avenue. One block over, on Madison, is the whitney museum. In addition to a great selection of modern and contemporary art, Sarabeth's in the basement and is a great place to stop for brunch or lunch.

While on Madison, head down to Sherry-Lehmann. The world famous wine shop offers regular free tastings (check online schedule) and expert advice all the time.

Heading east and north, the 92nd Street Y is a great place to hear a chamber concert, hear to your favorite politician debate, or attend the world famous poetry series, which regularly features some of the biggest name authors at reasonable prices.
