Step 1
Don't be afraid of Queens! When people hear that PS1 is in Queens, they usually groan from the thought of venturing into this suburban and sometimes tacky borough. What they don't know is that PS1 is just a few short stops on the E train from the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA), which owns PS1.

Step 2
While the museum never really gets crowded during normal operating hours, if you go on the weekdays it's like having your own private gallery.
-
Step 3
PS1 gets its name from the previous occupant of the space, and the public school atmosphere is still intact. Smaller galleries are in "classrooms" and a map is necessary to navigate properly. There is too much to see everything in one day, so plan to come back. Admission is only five dollars, making it easy to come often.

Step 4
In the summer, the large outdoor space in front of the museum is host Warm-Up. A dance party that happens every weekend and features both DJs and Live Music. If you join MOMA, it's free. Otherwise, $10.
