Things You'll Need:
- babydoll or action figure
- shampoo
- visor
- cup
- patience
-
Step 1
the first thing you need to do is prepare the bath. let your toddler know that he is going to take a bath and you need to wash his hair. while you are filling the tub suggest to him to go find one of his action figures(doll for a girl) that needs cleaning(hair washed). when he gets back place him and the toy in the water.
-
Step 2
show your child how to wash the action figure/doll's hair. show how you wet the hair, then use shampoo and rinse. this will help ready your child for their hair washing. i have found this to work wonders on my two girls. you can also buy a visor in the baby section at many stores that can be placed over the head. it will keep the water and soap from getting in your toddlers eyes which is a main reason they do not want to wash their hair in the first place.
-
Step 3
if these do methods do not work, get creative. think of what your child likes and what their interests are. if they are old enough ask them what you can do to make hair washing more fun. it could be simply playing beauty shop or barber shop or anything. just remember to talk to your child and it will work out fine.

on 2/9/2008 I used to use a washcloth to get the soap applied and don't forget to tilt the head back. I was usually so careful I had a hard time getting the soap out. Don't like crying child..breaks this wimps heart. LOL.
