Things You'll Need:
- Pen and paper
- calculator
-
Step 1
Before going to the grocery store, scan the kitchen and the cupboard for and list what you exactly need. Nothing more and nothing less.
-
Step 2
Bring a calculator when you go to the grocery or keep it in your purse or bag at all times. This will enable you to really budget your spendings.
-
Step 3
When you get to the Grocery store. Look for the bargains sections. Oftentimes, the products that you need are usually on sale and the price reduced dramatically. It is often located at the center or at the front of the supermarket. Finding deals here that are in your list instantly saves you money!
-
Step 4
Stick to what you have on the list. If you can find deals at the savers corner then you may purchase some additional items.
-
Step 5
Check what you have on your list and what you have yet to find so as to avoid duplication in your purchases. Also use the calculator to estimate your total so far.
-
Step 6
Upon checkout, always check the items that you bought and whether they where all loaded to your bag. Ask questions when necessary. For Example, if a product is listed in the shelves as having a discount, always ask the cashier if he/she applied the said discount to your item.
-
Step 7
This may sound simple and not worthy at times but trust me at the end of the day all of this steps will pile up to a considerable amount of savings!

on 2/7/2008 You can also save money by bringing reusable shopping bags. Stores like Whole Foods give discounts for each bag you bring. If you don't have a reusable bag yet, you can check out different ones at stayvocal.com
