One of the keys to weight loss and more energy is to bolster a flagging metabolism. Here are some ways to wake up your body's engine and put it into overdrive.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Protein-rich foods that are low in fat
  • Clean drinking water
  • Green juice or green juice powder
  • Oatmeal
  • Protein-rich snacks such as nuts
  1. Step 1

Start out by eating a protein-rich breakfast very shortly after waking. This jump starts your body for the day. Oatmeal is a great addition to your protein choice, as it helps to cleanse your body and reduce cholesterol.

  2. Step 2

Make sure you include some aerobic activity as early in the morning as possible. This also wakes up your body and increases your metabolic rate.

  3. Step 3

Drink 6 to 8 glasses of water a day to help carry toxins away that can make you sluggish.

  4. Step 4

Eat a protein-rich snack at least every three hours; this will keep your body from entering a "starvation" mode which slows down metabolic rate.

  5. Step 5

Include weight-bearing exercise at least twice a week. Muscle burns fat and increases metabolism.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure your protein source is lean. Chicken, fish, and lean pork are good choices.
  • Don't overdo the exercise to start; be sure to build up gradually.
